I have realized that there can be many dimensions to a forceplate, except for being part of solving challenges in society. There is not only the measurements that will measure balance within elderly people and traditionally then help them with preventative training or rehab – here we have multiple options to develop apps and long distance learning as a service to more than one society. And why not make delicious packages together with the hospitality industry?

We are entering the 4th Industrial Revolution. Technologies are constantly improving, getting better and better and more commonly used. This will radically change our society – how we live, work and go about things. We are not there yet, but we will soon be.
2018 is the year were we will see examples of artificial intelligence (AI) behaving in unexpected ways. Russia will intensify their AI activities. China is trying to be smarter than USA, but where is Europe? Maybe I have missed it.
It is like an arms race with Elon Musk in the middle talking about AI as an existential threat…..my head starts to spin! Who am I to believe here? Opportunity or threat?
We can never turn away from development, but I guess we cannot have it running around thinking by itself – or what do you think?
I dont know why, but there is something magic about AI. All I know is that all development have new scenarios and considerations that come with it, and it is how we handle those that determines how successful we will become.
So keep your eyes open and your brain intact! That´s how we role.

Many people see this year as the real breakthrough for artificial intelligence. The more I get into it – the more I learn about how interesting it is. It is actually more accesible than you think, just give it a chance and you will see.
I believe that we have to make science and high tech more “easy access” for everyone, we are on our way but still not there. In the project we are running the initiative State of the Q that aims to make science easier to access for women. It aims to inspire potential female leaders that want to be a part of bringing ideas on what to research or invent. There are many female programmers, but when we get into the more “heavy” high tech most people are men.
I never think about it that much though, except for when we do brainstorming. Men and women have different angles on ideas, and development tend to escalate to new heights when both men and women are involved. I believe in differences – out of this comes groundbreaking crossovers that we could not even think about before!

Sådant arbetar bland annat våra forskare i projektet med och nu startar vi det första besöksnäringscaset i Jämtland och Härjedalen. Först ut på plan är Johan Ranbrandt AB med en ny spännande produkt! Vi ser fram emot att arbeta tillsammans med dig där våra forskare tar fram en teknisk lösning så att hela produkten blir unik!
Resandet växer snabbast till storstäderna och prognosen pekar på fortsatt global tillväxt med stor potential för Sverige. Den största utmaningen uppstår inom digitalisering för att det hela tiden pågår förändringar i beteende hos konsumenterna. Med hjälp av innovationer kan vi svara upp mot behov och efterfrågan. Resandet innebär också så mycket glädje. Från planering till semester. Glädje motiverar och är enligt forskning det enklaste sättet att motivera människor och kanske styra till ett särskilt beteende

Jag har googlat runt för att se vad som händer i världen, då kom jag över denna intressanta artikel om Kinas utveckling inom teknologi. I artikeln står det bland annat att USA:s teknologiska gebit styrs av advokater medan Kinas styrs av ingenjörer. Vi tror fortfarande till viss del att Kina är landet för “billig teknologi”, men det är en missvisande bild, Kina är i högsta grad konkurrenskraftiga och mer än det.

Det har skett en extraordinär utveckling från “billig” till att matcha högsta världsnivå. “China 2025” har dragit till sig både utländska forskare och investeringar, och utvecklingen går i rasande fart.
Jag tycker att detta är mycket intressant.

Hi Cain, thank you for reading our blog and for your question! When we talk about sensors, we are referring to any device that is able to detect an event and measure physical or chemical quantities, such as speed, force, mass.
These technologies are applied to very different fields and they can be pretty simple and well-known objects, like a thermometer, or more complicated and little-known instruments like cantilevers that can detect the presence of certain biomolecules.
Even our body is fully equipped with sensors that we use for many different tasks! For example, we make use of them when we smell a flower, listen to music or taste a good dessert.

What is artificial intelligence (AI)? Does it mean that my shoes will be intelligent and maybe start acting out on their own? Below I have attached an article about what Nike is up to these days. We try to role with it in our project, yes – we try to observe our surroundings to be able to do even better and be even more groundbreaking if we can.

I recently watched CNN:s show about AI and it was breathtaking! Here was a robot, looking like a girl, answering questions that was not given beforehand, making decisions, actually thinking about what to answer.
Wikipedia describes it like this:
“Artificial intelligence (AI, also machine intelligence, MI) is intelligence demonstrated by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence (NI) displayed by humans and other animals.”
Here is another description from dictionary.com:
“The theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks normally requiring human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages.”

In the morning, dressed in pyjamas, we are already into testing! That is what I call dedicated!
Yes!
Here we are testing the connection between the camera and the sensors. The result is a video where you see the measured parameters from the sensors in the picture. Great for coaches and athletes who want to enhance the performance.

After this – supervisor Matej Supej went to the airport (not in pyjamas) to fly back to Ljubljana. We miss him every time he leaves, as they also do in Germany where he always gets stuck and we have to bail him out.

The 9th and 10th of April have been successful days for our team! We have tested different devices in Åre, in order to measure parameters that can help skiers to improve their performance. We have used GNSS systems to collect information relating to the trajectory and the speed of athletes. Special insoles were also positioned inside boots in order to measure the exterted pressure and therefore gather information about the technique of the skiers. The collected data will ne showed together with videos, providing coaches and skiers from the Swedish alpine team an effective tool for their trainings. Technology and skiers´ performance are growing together! It also brings the region together as new products can be commercialized.

Vi arbetar med IoT, fast Internet of Sports (IoS). En betydande del av vårt projekt hanterar hållbarhetspolicys under Agenda 2030 som är FN:s hållbarhetsagenda. Hållbarhet låter inte speciellt hip, därför har vi policys som är korta och enkla, och som man kan använda dagligen utan att man knappt märker det. Det blir som en slags daglig undermedveten medvetenhet inom hållbarhet. Tråkigt? Nej, inte alls, om man tänker på rätt sätt, att det ska vara en del av ens dag.

The Effect of the Internet of Things on Sustainability

What is a cool company? Does it contain lots of Internet of Sports or just lots of ground breaking high tech? Or a certain mentality? What do you think?
A cool company to me is a company with a leadership that is not afraid to do what has never been done, a leadership with an open mind to anything that crosses his/ her path – that does not “belittle” people and that has a drive to search for new ideas! A leadership that does not shut down anything before looking at it with the thought:”Lets check so that I dont miss out…”
Our project works with cool companies – they are aware and ready with an open mind to whatever the future might bring.
Future Eyewear, Trangia and Marsblade are all companies that will be a part of strengthening the region by their international products – we are working closely with them in selected cases. Trangia is the most unusual though, since ancient times they have produced the same cooking system for outdoor wellness and hiking, and still are – and it works! We tread carefully to “sensorize” them, as this regional “pearl” is already a major actor in several countries. Sometimes you cannot be King in your own country, maybe because you are an oddball or not as high tech as the rest of the crowd – but who cares? As long as you bring an open and innovative mind!
I will get back on this issue – how important an open mentality is for success.

Drones are flying robots, and they are becoming more and more popular. They are still in their infancy stage when we talk about mass usage, but they have already crossed boarders and barriers in industries that did not seem to adapt new technology. They have even become central to functions and been implemented in areas that were stagnant – and changed it around! Drones are extremely beneficial in places where humans cannot reach in an efficient manner.

What more on a great day like this?
The snow is slowly leaving the roads after being 10 meters high….or 5? What was it? Maybe 2 meters high? It was a very snowy season anyway! But we are not yet done with our test and demo on snow.
During the week 9-13 of April we will be running our second round of tests for development of tracking equipment for three of our national ski teams. We bring world class skills within science and hope to boost the teams for the upcoming World Championships in the region 2019. Read more about it here:

Our project is taking on peak performance as well as exercise/ wellness and challenges in society, such as public health.We use Internet of Sports also to support companies that can grow by commercializing products within sports.

I vårt nya fantastiska test och demo center i alpina arenan i Åre har vi en flaggskeppsaktivitet på kraftplatta som snart ska formuleras. Här kan vi skapa möjligheter för den som både motionerar och tävlar att förebygga skador, eller för äldre att förebygga en dålig höftbalans.

How will life be when every device or item you own, every path you walk and every house you enter is connected to the internet? How will our world change? Will it become a new paradise, or a brand new nightmare?
I see millions of opportunities, but I also see hackers and governments being able to pry into my private business, the more high tech – the more protection and security will be needed.
And the last one cannot really keep up.
But is it a big deal, Internet of Things/ Internet of Sports. Internet is stone age, it seems like it has been around forever, and it has already given us opportunities that we never had before. It is not obvious that things will be all different when we start to connect all sorts of items, we are already into that. I think the future will tell, and I will be wide open to embrace it, to be one of the drivers in development and to challenge old ways, old items and old outdated mentality. Yeah, this is where we are at.

This is a critical date to blog, because nobody will believe you.
I was actually thinking about pulling one on you, but Utah Jazz, the NBA basketball team brought me back to Earth again. They have done something remarkable with high tech! Utah Jazz have partnered with Vivint Smart Home and opened an in-arena sensory room for children with autism and developmental disabilities.
